Department of Medical Gastroenterology

Department of Gastroenterology is among those departments which started functioning right from the day one when hospital services were started. Looking at the future, the department aims to establish itself among topmost national institutes in the field of postgraduate teaching and scientific research in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.

In pursuit of these high aims the department is working in close cohesion with its surgical counterpart, department of radiology and pathology in particular and other disciplines of the hospital in general. The department is rapidly evolving as zonal centre for case referral from all over central India.  

Endoscopy services were started right since July 2000. Since then all kinds of routine and complex endoscopic procedures have been performed and perfected and staff recruited is being trained to assist in such procedures and perform the maintenance of scopes and accessories

High standards of sterilization of scope and accessories with strict adherence to exhaustive protocols are maintained in between various procedures. The EUS and Enteroscopy services are part of the topmost GI centers in India. We have organized monthly visits of Dr Vipul Rathod, country's most expert endosonologist, from Bhatia General Hospital Mumbai to help us develop endoultrasound services at our place. 

Balloon Enteroscopy equipment availability is in the pipeline.

 GI Physiology, a unique state of art equipment, only one of its kinds in whole central India, aids in understanding of various GI symptoms like chest pain, obscure abdominal pain, constipation etc where sometimes no structural abnormality is found.
