of Our Trustees
My father,
the late Sir Ian Percival, a British lawyer and
politician, devoted his last years to bringing
relief to the victims of the Gas Tragedy, as Sole
Trustee of the Bhopal Hospital Trust, the
predecessor of the B.M.H.T. He shouldered the
responsibility of building the hospital and the
early mini-units, aided, when assistance was
required, by the wise decisions of the Supreme
Court. Unhappily, he died, in April 1998, with his
task uncompleted. The hospital and mini-units
which stand now, and deliver such matchless
treatment to so many, are his legacy and represent
an achievement of which he could be justifiably
proud. The undertaking begun by him has been
carried on by the other dominant personality in
the history of the B.M.H.R.C., the former Chief
Justice of India, the Hon'ble Justice A.M.
Ahmadi, and by the other members of the Trust, of
whom I have the enduring honour, and pleasure, to
be one. We claim that the hospital is one of the
finest in all of India and that we have the finest
staff and facilities. The numbers taking advantage
of all that we have to offer bear witness that
this is surely no idle claim.

It was
the midnight of 2/3rd December, 1984 that
Methyl - Iso - Cyanate (MIC) gas was accidentally released from
the Union Carbide Bhopal plant, which
spread through the old city, spreading with it a
devastation of the kind rarely seen.
The
world was struck by one of the worst disasters
ever.
About 10,000 or more
people died & more then 500,000 suffered
agonizing injuries to Eyes, Lungs, Brain and
other systems of the body. Neurological, reproductive &
immune system of those who survived was severely
affected. My family & I also were severely
affected by this gas and are still under
treatment.
Bhopal

modern infrastructure (one of its kind in Central India) and
the 8
mini units situated in different parts of the MIC
Gas affected area of Bhopal, is providing quality health
services with the help of dedicated, highly
qualified manpower.

undertake high quality research on gas related and
other medical areas. In addition to this various
